Your lab report in 3 minutes
What does eGFR on my report mean?
That eGFR number on your health check — what counts as OK? Here it is in 3 minutes.
- 1eGFR = estimated glomerular filtration rate: roughly how much blood your kidneys filter per minute (mL/min/1.73 m²).
- 2Stages: ≥90 G1 | 60–89 G2 | 45–59 G3a | 30–44 G3b | 15–29 G4 | <15 G5.
- 3One low value is not kidney disease. CKD means eGFR <60 for more than 3 months, or evidence of kidney damage such as albuminuria.
- 4The trend matters more than a single point: a drop of more than 5 per year is what guidelines call rapid progression.
- 5Look at it together with urine albumin (UACR) — that completes the risk picture.

| s | Pantalla | Locución |
|---|---|---|
| 0–5 | Close-up of a lab report: eGFR 68 | This eGFR number on your report — what is it, really? |
| 5–15 | Kidney filter animation + "blood filtered per minute" | eGFR is the estimated glomerular filtration rate. Put simply, it is roughly how much blood your kidneys can filter every minute. Higher is better. |
| 15–30 | Six colour bands: G1 to G5 | 90 and above is G1, 60 to 89 is G2, 45 to 59 is G3a, 30 to 44 is G3b, 15 to 29 is G4, and below 15 is G5. |
| 30–42 | Calendar flipping 3 months | But one low value is not kidney disease. It has to stay below 60 for more than three months, or come with signs of kidney damage like protein in the urine. |
| 42–52 | Line chart going down, label ">5 per year" | What matters more than a single number is the trend. A fall of more than 5 per year is what the guidelines call rapid progression — talk to your doctor about it. |
| 52–60 | Site logo + URL + QR | Log each blood test and the trend becomes obvious. Beyond CKD has a free tracker — your data stays on your phone. |
