eGFR Kidney Function Tracker

Type in the numbers from each lab report and see where your kidney function is heading, your current stage and roughly how much it changes per year. Screenshot or print it for your next visit.

Trend chart

Background bands = KDIGO 2024 stages G1–G5; dots = each test; dashed line = recent trend.

  • G1 normal or high (≥90)
  • G2 mildly decreased (60–89)
  • G3a mildly to moderately decreased (45–59)

3 questions to ask your doctor

  1. What stage am I in now, and has it changed since last time?
  2. At this rate, should we adjust medication, diet or how often we check?
  3. What does my urine albumin (UACR) mean? Do I need any further tests?
Understanding the numbers
  1. eGFR is an estimate and can dip temporarily with dehydration, hard exercise, a big meat meal or certain drugs. One lower value is not progression — the trend matters more than a single point.
  2. KDIGO stages GFR as G1–G5 and albuminuria as A1–A3; together they give the full risk picture, so UACR is worth logging too.
  3. Rapid progression is defined as a sustained eGFR decline of more than 5 mL/min/1.73 m² per year (KDIGO 2024).
  4. Labs may use different equations (CKD-EPI 2009/2021, MDRD, Japanese eGFRcr). Compare trends using the same lab where possible.
